EV8S01 Handmade 4-Pocket French Wrok Shirt

This super limited edition GBS Evolution VIII EV8S01 shirt jacket is one of only 13 handmade pieces worldwide. Of these, just two were created exclusively for the Benelux region and are available at LABELS. The design is based on an updated 1920's French four-pocket work jacket pattern from extensive tailoring research. It is crafted from an ultrasoft pure Italian Cariaggi cashmere yarn fabric, handwoven by Tessitura La Colombina on 18th-century wooden looms in Badoere di Morgano, requiring nearly two days of work to produce enough material for a single jacket.

The fabric underwent a specialized hand-dyeing process at the GBS Superworkrooms in Cavarzere Venezia, with over 12 hours of expert work to achieve its unique color, patina effects, drape, and softness. The jacket features three exterior and one interior workwear-style pockets, along with real single-needle tailored double-stitched seams, sewn using an authentic single-needle machine from the period. This meticulous process takes twice as long as modern double-needle equipment.

Details include clean-finished, rounded Pregant button designs created by Claudio and Cinzia Fontana in Parma and eight hand-stitched buttonholes, each crafted with pure silk Bozzolo Reale Milano Seta threads, taking 12–15 minutes to complete on the delicate handwoven fabric. The shirt jacket also features a hand-dyed pure silk label by Mion SpA in Torreglia, the first of its kind in the luxury industry to eliminate plastic polyester yarns, attached entirely by hand with silk threads. 

Color variations and density differences are intentional characteristics of the fabric, dyeing process, and handmade construction. Buttons and buttonholes require gentle care. Professional cleaning or handwashing in cold water is recommended, avoiding machine washing or drying.
