Valentino, the storied Italian Maison de Couture founded in 1960 by Valentino Garavani and Giancarlo Giammetti, has embarked on a new artistic chapter under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele
Since assuming the role in April 2024, Michele has merged his bold, expressive aesthetic with Valentino’s deep roots in elegance, couture codes, and refined Italian craftsmanship. His signature touch—vintage-inspired prints, rich textures, layered silhouettes, and references to archival Valentino heritage—re‑imagines tradition in a vibrant, modern light.
Collections under Valentino by Alessandro Michele embrace maximalism, theatricality, and ornate detail without sacrificing the brand’s hallmark grace, femininity, and sense of beauty. He revives Valentino’s legacy while pushing it forward—drawing on historical motifs, silhouettes from the ’60s and ’70s, couture craftsmanship, and even Valentino’s iconic “Sfilata Bianca.”
As Creative Director, Michele is based in Rome—the birthplace of the brand—and leads Valentino into this new era with a profound respect for its couture heritage, while daring to explore in color, structure, and imagination.
