About Junya Watanabe MAN
Junya Watanabe, a Japanese fashion designer, studied under Rei Kawakubo, the visionary behind Comme des Garçons. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo in 1984, he started his career as a patternmaker at CDG and quickly rose to become the chief designer of the Tricot line, followed by CDG Homme. In 1993, Watanabe launched his own line, Junya Watanabe Comme des Garçons, debuting in Paris. Like his mentor, Watanabe is celebrated for his innovative, avant-garde approach, marked by technical brilliance, experiments with cutting-edge fabrics, unique tailoring, and complex draping.
