This special GBS Evolution VIII version of the pure cashmere EVS01 shirt is one of only 12 handmade pieces worldwide, with just one created exclusively for LABELS, representing the Benelux. The shirt is crafted from a classic European tailored shirt pattern and cut from the world’s lightest pure cashmere suiting cloth—the 170-gram "Alashan Breath" ultralight fabric woven by Fratelli Piacenza 1733 SpA in Pollone, Biella, the oldest woolen mill still in operation and renowned for its premium cashmere fabrics. The fabric was individually "accident-dyed" by hand at the GBS Superworkrooms in Cavarzere Venezia using a specialized process that took over 10 hours to achieve its unique mottled colors, patina, softness, and drape.
The design features a classic European tailored cut, with extensive hand-stitched detailing on the shoulder, back yoke seams, and sleeve cuffs, requiring over 2.5 hours of artisan craftsmanship. The shirt includes expert single-needle stitching, fully French-seamed interiors, and a hand-stitched pure silk thread label. Real horn buttons, custom-made by Claudio and Cinzia Fontana in Parma, and 12 signature hand-sewn buttonholes, each requiring 10–12 minutes to complete with pure silk Bozzolo Reale Milano Seta threads, showcase exceptional craftsmanship. Over three hours of skilled work were dedicated to the buttonholes and buttons alone.
The shirt also features a hand-dyed pure silk label by Mion SpA in Torreglia, the first in the luxury industry to eliminate plastic polyester yarns. It is attached entirely by hand with silk threads. Variations in color and density reflect the artisanal techniques used. Buttons and buttonholes should be handled with extreme care. Professional cleaning or gentle handwashing in cold water, with buttons protected by foil or plastic wrap, is recommended. Avoid machine washing or drying.
